About Us

An engineering firm built for the plant floor

Founded in 2009 by four control engineers, Meridian now employs 240 people across San Francisco, Rotterdam and Singapore.

Our story

Meridian began in 2009 when four control engineers left a large systems house with a specific complaint: automation projects were being handed over with incomplete drawings, undocumented logic and no realistic route to support. Their view was that the handover should be the start of a relationship rather than the end of a contract.

That principle still shapes how the firm is organised. We take on fewer projects than our headcount would allow, we keep the design engineer involved through commissioning, and we publish the same delivery status internally and to the client.

How we work

  • Every design is peer reviewed before it is issued, and every change after issue is recorded against the specification
  • Progress is reported as it stands, including the parts that have slipped
  • A named lead engineer stays with a programme from first drawing to handover
  • Source code, as-built drawings and test records are yours, in full, at handover
  • We quote fixed fees for assessment work so the first stage carries no open-ended risk

Where we operate

We work from three offices. San Francisco covers the Americas and holds our life sciences practice. Rotterdam covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and runs one of our two operations centres. Singapore covers Asia Pacific and runs the second, giving continuous monitoring cover across time zones.

We stay in four industries on purpose. Depth in discrete manufacturing, energy and utilities, logistics, and life sciences means our engineers arrive already familiar with the uptime and regulatory pressures of the site they are walking into.

Leadership

  • Dana Whitfield, Chief Executive Officer. Twenty-two years in industrial controls, previously responsible for automation across a global packaging group.
  • Marcus Oyelaran, Chief Technology Officer. Leads architecture and the edge platform roadmap. Chartered engineer and a contributor to two IEC working groups.
  • Priya Raghunathan, Vice President of Client Delivery. Runs the project and commissioning organisation across all three regions.
  • Erik Lindqvist, Director of Operational Technology Security. Former utility SCADA lead, responsible for our IEC 62443 practice.

Governance and assurance

Meridian is certified to ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 27001 for information security, and our security practice is certified to IEC 62443-2-4. Our life sciences work is delivered against GAMP 5 documentation. Certification records are available to clients and prospective clients on request.
